7th Grade Math Curriculum - Standards, Lessons, Activities, Printable Worksheets

Continued from Seventh Grade Math Curriculum Page.

A 7th grade math curriculum should be taught using 7th grade lessons including interactive activities, learning games, printable worksheets, assessments, and reinforcement. 7th grade math curriculum should rely on many learning tools - 7th grade lessons with activities, worksheets, reinforcement exercises, and assessments. And a 7th grade math curriculum should cover all the math strands, not just arithmetic. The major math strands for 7th grade curriculum are number sense and operations, algebra, geometry and spatial sense, measurement, and data analysis and probability. While these math strands might surprise you, they are all critical lessons for a 7th grade math curriculum.

7th grade math lessons, worksheets, and activities teach 7th grade math curriculum covering all the math strands.

7th Grade Math - What are the Standards and Curriculum?

Time4Learning teaches a comprehensive 7th grade math curriculum using fun, 7th grade math activities to build a solid math foundation. Help your child excel in math, learn more about Time4Learning's 7th grade math lessons, curriculum, activities and worksheets.

7th Grade Math Curriculum and Standards - Lessons, Activities, Worksheets - Geometry and Spatial Sense

7th grade math curriculum teaches students to identify, draw, and use symbolic notation to denote properties of geometric terms including intersecting lines, skewed lines, parallel lines, and perpendicular lines, plus two-dimensional figures and congruent figures. Using a protractor or angle relationships, 7th grade math students will determine the measure of various types of angles, for example complementary angles, supplementary angles and vertical angles.

7th grade math students compare and describe attributes of regular and irregular polygons including parallelograms, trapezoids, pentagons, and hexagons. They identify and classify triangles and quadrilaterals. 7th grade math lessons teach the attributes of three-dimensional figures such as pyramids, cones, spheres, and hemispheres. Using manipulatives and drawings 7th grade math students solve problems requiring spatial visualization. They describe and apply properties of parallelism, perpendicularity, and symmetry in real-world contexts. 7th grade math lessons include recognition of and drawing of congruent and similar figures.

Using a coordinate plane, 7th grade math students are asked to identify and perform transformations of a given figure such as reflection, translation, and rotation. They identify each quadrant and the characteristics of points in each quadrant (positive and negative). They also identify and plot ordered pairs in all four quadrants of the coordinate system.

7th grade math students are asked to observe, explain, and make conjectures about geometric properties and relationships among angles, lines, and polygons. They create and solve angle measurement problems for triangles and demonstrate the Pythagorean relationship in right triangles using models or diagrams. Given two sides of a right triangle, students use the Pythagorean Theorem to find the length of the third side.

7th Grade Math Curriculum and Standards - Lessons, Activities, Worksheets - Algebraic Thinking

7th grade math students generate tables and charts (for example, input and output) to develop algebraic expressions, equations, and formulas. They interpret and create tables, function charts, and graphs for all four quadrants. Graphs are used to explain cause-and-effect relationships. Students learn to express and write generalizations of patterns, relationships, and verbal expressions using algebraic expressions and equations. Students learn to supply specific instances of a pattern when given an algebraic expression. 7th grade math students also translate algebraic expressions, equations, and formulas representing real-world relationships into verbal expressions or sentences.

Given an algebraic equation or expression of a real-world application, 7th grade math curriculum asks students to substitute integral values for variables and to simplify results. Students graph solutions to equations and inequalities on a number line, and graph linear equations on the coordinate plane from a table of values. 7th grade math students solve one-step and simple multi-step linear equations and inequalities representing real-world situations, and simplify algebraic expressions with one variable.

7th Grade Math Curriculum and Standards - Lessons, Activities, Worksheets - Data Analysis and Probability

During 7th grade math, students are expected to generate and collect data for analysis. They interpret and analyze data presented in a variety of forms, including box-and-whisker graphs and scatter plots. 7th grade math lessons help students learn to construct, interpret, and explain displays of data such as tables and graphs including circle graphs, single- and multiple-bar graphs, and single- and multiple-line graphs. Students learn how different displays of data lead to different interpretations. They find the range, mean, median, and mode of data from a table, chart, or graph, drawing conclusions from an analysis of range and central tendency of a set of real-world data. 7th grade math lessons ask students to apply and analyze appropriate measures of central tendency (mode, mean, median, range) for data sets.

Using technology such as graphing calculators and computer spreadsheets, 7th grade math students analyze data and create graphs. They find experimental results using manipulatives and explain observed differences between mathematical and experimental results. 7th grade math lessons teach students to calculate simple mathematical probabilities for independent and dependent events, and to compute mathematical odds for and against specified outcomes in real-world experiments.

*Math Standards are defined by each state. Time4Learning bases its use of standards on the national bodies that recommend curriculum and standards and the interpretations of it by a sampling of states notably Florida, Texas, and California. Time4Learning's third grade math help provides an interactive 3rd grade math help, lesson plans useful for helping most third grade math students with their math problems around the country and world. One Feature of Time4Learning is access to lesson plans and help at both the grade above and below that a student is working at so a student who enrolls in the third grade math program but who finds, for example, the fractions too difficult can get math help by clicking down to the second grade math fractions level

Seventh Grade Lessons - The Time4Learning Program Structure

Time4Learning has been refined through years of feedback from educators, parents, and students. Seventh grade subjects are organized into chapters composed of interactive lessons, printable worksheets, quizzes and tests. Seventh graders are guided through the activities at their own pace by an automated system.

When students log in, they choose a subject, select a chapter, pick a lesson and complete the activities. A bright green arrow tells them where they left off, and completed work is clearly labeled with a check-mark or a gold star. Visual and auditory prompts guide third graders through the lessons making them easy for young learners to follow, and an online playground (controlled by parents) rewards and motivates them to finish their lessons.

Parents get access to printable lesson plans, teaching tools, detailed reporting and parental support through our online Parent Forum.

Does your child have different achievement levels for math and language arts? No problem. Time4Learning lets you set each individual subject at the appropriate graded level, making this program great for special needs and gifted students.
