Time4Learning

Time4Learning Member,

We're sorry that you are having trouble. We wish that web based systems never had configuration issues to work through. But we do. With a little patience, these can be quickly resolved. If the directions on this page do not solve the problem, please contact us with details on the problem and how/when to reach you, preferably when you are in front of the computer.

If you prefer a more visual approach to solving your problem, try our pages with Common Problems or Hints on using Time4Learning. Here are some common problems. You can also keep reading down the page where a number of other issues are discussed.

How to Use Time4Learning
To get started, go to Member Login: http://www.time4learning.com/Login/Member_Login.aspx (you might want to bookmark this page).

After logging in, you should be greeted by an animation of Ed Mouse. At the end, click on "Click Here". You then should enter the Launch Pad for LessonTime. In the middle of the page are yellow icons. Click on them to see the folders with the lessons. The blinking yellow arrow will show you where to start.

I'm having logging trouble logging into Time4Learning, what should I do?
If your login is not being accepted, contact us at support@Time4Learning.com with the name and passcode you are trying to login with. We will verify that the exact login is set.

I can login but cannot see the Mouse animation. Text is missing from the lessons. The audio is not working.
These errors indicate that your Flash needs updating or is not correctly installed. Click here to install Flash.

I can login to Time4Learning but it says my account is not yet set up.
Each student's survey is individually reviewed and accounts are set up manually to get the best educational fit possible. This happens usually three times daily. In some cases, users try to login before their account has been setup. In this case, you can go to the Playground.

I can login to Time4Learning. I see the mouse animation, then the window just closes.
The window is closed by security software ("popup blockers") on your computer that conflicts with the windows that are about to be opened or "popped-up". Time4Learning has a special mode called "Trouble-Shooting" which allows it to coexist with this security software. To try this, go to the Member Login page and check the "Check here to run in Trouble-Shooting Mode" box. Then login.

"Click HERE for LessonTime" is not working.

If nothing happens when you "Click Here for LessonTime", then your computer has Pop-up blockers that prevent Time4Learning from opening our second window. To the user, this appears as either nothing happening when you "Click here For Lessontime" or sometimes as an abrupt closing of the window. This can be solved in several ways:

a. When it's time to "Click here for LessonTime", hold down the control key on the keyboard while clicking. This sometimes solves the problem.

b. If that does not work, close the browser and return to the Member Login page. Before you login, check "Run in trouble shooting mode". Then login. This solves the problem (but the windows have unnecessary and unsightly menus).

Since Trouble Shooting mode is a little cumbersome, you just adjust your pop-ups blockers set to allow www.Time4Learning.com as a "trusted" site so you can run in normal mode. For information on the difference between trouble shooting and regular mode.Trouble shooting mode allows allows Time4Learning to open a second window and not conflict with pop-up blocking software. To set your pop-ups blockers click here for some instructions to make Time4Learning.com a "trusted" site.

After login or at "Click HERE for LessonTime", you get returned abruptly to MemberLogin, this is caused by pop-up blockers and requires an adjustment to them. See above.

The message "Sorry, you have attempted to log on to our system via an unknown source".

This means that your privacy settings need to be adjusted. Time4Learning, like many websites, must be able to place "session cookies" (small pieces of data to keep track of your session) on your computer to work properly during your sessions. Most likely, your privacy settings have been set too high by Norton Internet Security. So start by following the instructions below on Adjusting Norton Internet Security Privacy Controls.

If it is not Norton Internet Security, some users have other security software such as ZoneAlarm or McAfee. Follow those vendors instructions to allow "session cookies" to be set. Your browser (this is rare) can also have privacy settings set too high (ie high instead of medium). To change your browsers's cookies setting:

1. In your browser, click on the Tools Menu. Pick Internet Options.
2. Pick the Privacy Tab
3. Move the slider on the vertical bar to a position no higher than Medium High.
5. Click Apply then OK and close the Control Panel window.

Adjusting Norton Internet Security Privacy Controls

Look at the icons in the bottom right hand corner of your screen and find your Norton Internet security software, (this looks like an yellow/orange ball or globe). Right click on it.

Adjusting Norton Internet Security Privacy Control.

If you are running Norton Internet Security 2005:

Double-click on the Norton icon in the bottom of the screen (or right-click the icon and click on Norton Internet Security).
On the left side of the screen, you should see a few choices, click on Norton Internet Security (not Norton AntiVirus or Norton AntiSpam).
Under Norton Internet Security, you should see a few choices: click on the top one which is Status & Settings.
ON the right side of the page, you will see seven choices. The sixth one down is Privacy Controls.
Click on Privacy Control, then click "Turn Off" in the box at right.
Now try clicking "CLICK here FOR Lesson Time" again and it should work fine.

If you are running Norton Internet Security 2003 or 2004, try temporarily disabling the Privacy Control as follows:

Double-click on the Norton icon in the bottom of the screen (or right-click the icon and click on Norton Internet Security).
Click Privacy Control, then click "Turn Off" in the box at right.
Now try clicking "CLICK here FOR Lesson Time" again.

In most versions, you can disable just the privacy settings without disabling the firewall or antivirus protection. If you need to disable the entire service, select disable for five minutes. Now click on "enter lesson time". Longer term, reset your security software, probably Norton, to "trust" our site so you don't have to turn it off (see help below).

To leave Privacy Controls on and to allow Time4Learning to use cookies, make the following changes to the Norton Internet Security Privacy Control settings.

1. Display the Norton Internet Security window as described above.
2. Click on Privacy Control, then click Configure in the box at right.
3. In the Privacy Control window, click the Advanced button.
4. On the Advanced window, click the Add Site button at lower left.
5. In the New Site/Domain window, enter
www.compasslearningodyssey.com and Click OK.
6. Scroll down the list in the box at left until you find the address you just entered (
www.thelearningodyssey.com).  Click on it.
7. Under the Global Settings tab at right, find "Information about visited sites." Click Use default settings. The arrow should disappear. Click Permit. A dot should appear to indicate you have made the Permit selection.
8. Now click Add Site again and enter www.thelearningodyssey.com   As described in steps 6 and 7 above, click on this address in the list, deselect Use default settings under "Information about visited sites" and select Permit.
9. Click OK to close this window, then click OK to close the Privacy Control window.
Make sure the Privacy Control is turned ON in the Norton Internet Security window. You should now be able to access the Lesson Time screen normally.

Does Time4Learning work with AOL?
Time4Learning has been tested and works fine with AOL, but you will need to open an Internet Explorer browser instead of using the AOL browser. This is a little confusing since the AOL browser's appearance is nearly identical to a normal Internet Explorer window. To open the new browser:

1. Connect to the internet. Once you are online...

2. Click on the Start menu in the bottom corner of the screen.
3. Click on the Internet Explorer icon.
4. Direct the browser to the Time4Learning website at www.Time4Learning.com and click on Member Login.

After downloading and installing MS Agent, Peedy does not read the text outloud. Instead, a caption box shows up with the text that would normally be read aloud.

Windows XP uses SAPI 5.0 which is not compatible with MS Agent. MS Agent uses SAPI 4.0. Since XP can support both versions of SAPI, download and install SAPI 4.0 by clicking on the following link: SAPI
