It’s important for families who homeschool to have access to resources, support, and guidance. Oregon homeschool associations are designed to provide all that and more. Run by homeschoolers who volunteer their time, these organizations’ goals are to advocate for families and help them understand the ins and outs of homeschooling. Regardless of where you live in the state or how long you’ve been homeschooling, there is much to gain when you become a part of a homeschool organization in Oregon.

Oregon Home Education Network (OHEN)

OHEN is an inclusive homeschool association in Oregon dedicated to supporting homeschooling families in the state. Providing an avenue for families to connect and network, OHEN holds several events throughout the year including a homeschool resource fair. OHEN is run by volunteers and gives anyone who is interested the opportunity to donate their time as well as serve on the Board of Directors.

Families can become members of OHEN with a $25 lifetime membership that allows the nonprofit organization to sponsor various events and workshops, as well as continue to provide invaluable resources to homeschooling families in the Beaver State.

Oregon Christian Home Education Association Network (OCEANetwork)

Started in 1986 to help guide homeschooling families and protect their freedoms, this not-for-profit organization is run entirely by volunteers. OCEANetwork provides support and encouragement to families all throughout the state as well as SW Washington by way of workshops, conferences, and more.

OCEANetwork hosts several events throughout the year including a conference, graduation recognition, and more. Homeschoolers can chose to become a Supporting Family by making a donation of $50 or more and in turn receive several discounts and benefits. Families can also donate their time in an number of different areas within OCEANetwork including as a conference volunteer, blog contributor, and writer, just to name a few.

Why Join a Homeschool Association?

The question should be why not join a homeschool association. Being able to network and share stories and advice with other homeschoolers can prove priceless for a homeschool family just starting out. With the worry and frustration that comes with getting started, knowing that you are not alone in homeschooling adventure can make a world of difference. Joining an Oregon homeschool association means having access to resources as well as the support of caring families who want you to succeed and make the most of your right to educate your child at home.
