Sixth Grade Language Arts Software
Time4Learning’s online sixth grade language arts software contains 133 language arts lessons and 136 language arts extension lessons. The focus of the sixth grade language arts curriculum is vocabulary skills, fluency, listening, speaking and reading comprehension. In addition, students will complete grammar-based lessons, spelling lessons and writing exercises. Parents can take advantage of the additional language arts distance learning resources such as teaching guides, printable worksheets and reports found on the Parent Dashboard.
Time4Learning sixth grade software provides literature activities for use at the sixth grade level. These lessons focus on fictional stories, plays, poetry and autobiographies. Not only will students learn to read these types of works through e-learning, but they will be able to write them as well.
Sixth grade students have access to an online Odyssey Writer program. In the Odyssey Writer, students can practice the different types of writing they learn about in the Time4Learning language arts lessons. Students will be able to plan a play, poem or story, and then create a rough draft. Writing, revising and editing will follow. Once final editing has been completed, students will be able to print their final work to share or keep in a homeschool portfolio.

Sixth Grade Reading List
The sixth grade language arts software reading materials are provided online and include excerpts of authentic literature. Some parents have expressed interest in purchasing the full versions since some children might prefer to read from a book or simply to have permanent copies for their home library. These can be purchased at the links below, but they are not necessary in order to use the Time4Learning software.
- The Lost Garden by Lawrence Yep
- Far North by Will Hobbs
- Growing Up in Coal Country by Susan Campbell
- Lupita Manana by Patricia Beatty
- Poems By Langston Hughes
The software appealed to me because you can change the grade level of their instruction, to customize it for your child's needs.

Vocabulary exercises address synonyms, antonyms, homonyms, prefixes, suffixes, homophones, idioms, and Greek and Latin roots. Structure of the Sixth Grade Software Program – The Time4Learning Structure
Time4Learning has been refined through years of feedback from educators, parents and students. Sixth grade subjects are presented with web-based software organized into multimedia chapters composed of interactive lessons, printable worksheets and graded activities. Sixth graders are guided through the online activities at their own pace by an automated software system.
When students log into the software program, they choose a subject, select a chapter, pick a lesson and complete the activities. A bright green arrow tells them where they left off; and completed work is clearly labeled with a checkmark or a gold star. Visual and auditory prompts guide sixth graders through the lessons, making them easy for young learners to follow. In addition, an online playground (controlled by parents) rewards and motivates them to finish their lessons.
Parents get access to printable lesson plans, teaching tools, detailed reporting and parental support through our online Parent Forum.
Does your child have different achievement levels for math and language arts? No problem. Time4Learning lets you set each individual subject at the appropriate grade level, making this program ideal for special needs and gifted students.
