The Alamo

The former Franciscan mission, once the site of an 1836 battle, is now a museum where visitors can learn about an important part of history and Texas’s struggle for independence from Mexico. Homeschoolers can take a tour of the battlefield, be a part of history talks, and explore exhibits.

Natural Bridge Caverns

Visitors will get to explore caves and see geological formations like stalactites and stalagmites within these caverns discovered by four college students in 1960. A number of exciting and educational tours take guests 180 feet below the surface. Homeschoolers can also pan for gems and fossils, try the maze, canopy challenge or zip line.

Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch

This 400-acre drive thru safari first opened in 1984 and is home to over 500 animals. Visitors can see zebras, emus, ostriches, wildebeest and more roam freely from the comfort of their car. There is also a petting barnyard, a lemur island, and a giraffe barn.

San Pedro Springs Park

This 46-acre park is the oldest in the state, and the second oldest park in the U.S. The area’s earliest recorded inhabitants were the Payaya Indians who had a village named Yanaguana. Visitors can ride their bikes on a paved trail, take a swim in the pool, play tennis, or go on a nature walk.
