Dallas World Aquarium
This aquarium and zoo is home to a number of animals that are threatened or endangered. Several exhibits take visitors to different parts of the world like South Africa, Borneo, and the South American rainforest to learn about animals like the radiated tortoise, penguins, and various species of fish and birds.
Trinity River Audubon Center
This center allows visitors to get a better understanding of the natural world around us by learning about conservation, the important role birds play in our environment, and more. Homeschoolers can be a part of conservation workshops, river investigations aboard a kayak, and other exciting educational opportunities.
Cedar Hill State Park
With over 1,800 acres, this park offers visitors tons of things to do like hiking, camping, swimming, and fishing. Homeschoolers can take part in guided hikes to learn about the history and nature of the area, tour the Penn Farm Agricultural Center, and pick up a free Junior Ranger Journal.
The oldest and largest zoo in Texas, this 106-acre park was established in 1888. It is home to more than 2,000 animals from over 400 species. Visitors can explore two areas within the zoo: Wilds of Africa, where they’ll find giraffes, zebras, and gorillas; and ZooNorth which is home to reptiles, koalas, and tigers. The zoo features a homeschool day as well as field trips at discounted rates for homeschool groups.
