You don’t have to be a homeschooling family to get a benefit from this site.

Let me tell you, I was impressed! I really just thought it would be a fun site the kids could go to when they wanted to play on the computer. I didn’t expect them to learn a lot. This site was great! I was especially impressed with the science section. My kids learned a lot about bees and spiders (and other things)!

There are lots of things I love about this site, but my favorite part is that you are not stuck with just one grade level. If you place your child in 2nd grade, they will be able to do activities in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade. I think that is wonderful! Most children have varying degrees of mastery in the subjects they study. They may excel in math, while having trouble in language arts, while at the same time is right on target (according to their grade level standards) with science. AND… you can change their grade level at any time if you see that he/she is not in the right level for a particular subject.

I actually placed both of my children a grade level below where they are currently. I really just did this as a test to see if I was heading them in the right direction. (Apparently I don’t have a lot of faith in myself… maybe I should look into that)

Well, my daughter was upset with me about that when it came to language arts because she is a very good reader (no thanks to me… that’s just the way she is). And, it really was too easy for her. It was nice that I could just change the grade level and give her something more challenging.

My son had a blast! He didn’t care what level I put him at as long as he got to play on the computer! A couple days after we started using the program, he asked me, “Mommy, can I play on that fun website today?” and once at dinner he told his daddy that we didn’t do school that day. We did school, we just did it on the computer with Time 4 Learning. He loves it so much he didn’t realize he was learning!

For the sake of reviewing the product, we used Time 4 Learning as our only schooling for an entire month. It was great. I was still able to be hands on and watch and hear what they were learning and they had fun! I was also able to do other things while they were on the computer if I knew it was something they wouldn’t need a lot of assistance with.

You don’t have to be a homeschooling family to get a benefit from this site. It is also perfect for children to use as a fun site to go to after school to better their skills in subjects in which they need extra help or just have fun.

Some other fun facts from the Time 4 Learning website:

Online Curriculum for PreK to 8th Grades

Access to 3 Grade Levels of Lessons

1,000+ Student-Paced Multimedia Activities

Language Arts, Math, Science & Social Studies

Interactive, Project-Based Activities

Detailed Reporting for

Easy Record-Keeping

Lesson Plans & Teaching Tools for Parents

Lessons Correlated to State Standards

All in all, I think the system is wonderful! The only drawback for our family is that I don’t want all their learning to be on the computer. I just don’t want them staring at a screen for that long every day. That being said, you don’t have to use it as your sole curriculum. You can just use it as extra learning and it is perfect for that!

Our daughter, who is our oldest child, is a very bright girl. But she is also a very, very unique girl. Blessed with a quick wit, analytical skills that are honed to a sophistication beyond her years, and an out-going genuine friendliness, we assumed that she would flourish in the Catholic school where we enrolled her for kindergarten. We could not have been more wrong.

Before her seventh birthday she was reading at the fifth grade level, but could not remember the class routine. Social difficulties quickly mounted. She wasn’t fitting in, and had no friends. Nothing helped her to be integrated into the group. By fifth grade she was placed in the gifted classroom, but she was still isolated.

Our son has had equally difficult challenges. He is hyperactive. He often cannot concentrate well-enough to focus on schoolwork at night, and reading was as challenging for him as it had been natural for his sister. I have found an outstanding private school that really understands him, but they do not offer classes beyond third grade.

So last year I knew that we would soon homeschooling. I had exhausted public and private school options. Homeschooling would be a last ditch effort to bring some relief to my children, but the very idea of homeschooling terrified me.

I was terrified because I am not by nature well-organized. How would I plan lessons? How would I keep records? What if I never actually got around to lessons each day? What if my daughter went unchallenged, while my son fell more and more behind? I was worried that pulling them out of school would result in horrible neglect of their basic education.

Then one day toward the end of last Spring, I was searching for animated on-line reading materials for my son. I happened upon Time4Learning.com. We tried out some sample lessons. My son LOVED them. He begged me for a membership. I realized that all of the lessons were available on-line and sequentially organized, that the website also tracks the student’s study time, lessons completed, and scores. When I saw the price for membership, my excitement piqued to absolute euphoria. I used to spend more money on school lunches than I have on Time4Learning.com membership.

I wasn’t certain that this system would work for us, but since it was May, I decided to give homeschooling a “dress rehearsal.” I explained to my kids that we would “rehearse” homeschooling for the summer. I purchased two memberships. We did lessons every single day. My daughter really didn’t need to do lessons– she’s ahead of grade level in all subjects, but I wanted to see if the homeschooling routine was feasible for us. Would she actually do work every single day?

As for my son, I was just desperate to see some improvement in his reading. I was hoping he would actually sit still enough to practice reading every day, without arguments or stalling.

So throughout the summer, my children did lessons every day. They both wanted to be homeschooled, and I explained that unless they were faithful with this summer routine, I would not be able to homeschool them. They did their lessons every day without argument or hassle.

My daughter loved the lessons, and frequently laughed out loud as she did them. She found them to be witty and enjoyable. In the fall, when she returned to school, things became unbearable for her. She was so stressed out that she could not sleep. I pulled her out of school, full of confidence that I could home-school, because of our membership with Time4Learning.com.

The school year has progressed well for us. Time4Learning.com has kept me organized. All of the core academic subjects are covered. The site allows parents flexibility in the number of lessons they choose to complete, the order in which lessons are taught, and also allows lessons/units to be skipped. Parents can select a different grade level for each of their student’s subjects. The system keeps track of attendance, lessons completed, and scores. Additional resources are available to print out, and non-computer-based supplemental activities are suggested. A free homeschooling guidebook is available to download, and is very helpful. An on-line community with parent forums is very helpful.

My daughter, however, has had a few problems navigating the website, because she sometimes lacks the eye-hand cooridnation to accurately point and click the mouse. She is also a kinesthetic learner and concentrates better with a book in her hand that she can mark up. She needs to turn the pages with her fingers. Further, she reads at the high school level and is looking for more depth in the content. None of this is the fault of Time4Learning.com. My daughter simply has many unique characteristics.

One drawback for me was that Time4Learning.com does not provide a teacher’s manual. A Scope and Sequence lists what each student will learn during each lesson, but there is no detailed guide that spells out the key concepts that are covered in each lesson. In know exactly what the children are learning, the parent has to click through the lessons, which I found to be more time-consuming than skimming through printed texts.

We have decided to drop my daughter’s membership because of these special issues. I can say, however, that because of what I learned about homeschooling from Time4Learning.com, I have grown as a parent-teacher, and am now able to plan her lessons and do my own record keeping. I could not have come this far without Time4Learning. Time4Learning has enriched our lives beyond measure by providing a painless entry into homeschooling, and by showing both me and my daughter that homeschooling is feasible for us.

My son’s reaction to the summer with Time4Learning was even more significant: He begged for certain lessons over and over. By the time our “dress rehearsal” summer was over, he had jumped two grade levels in reading. Now, largely due to Time4Learning.com, my son is a reader. He is eight years old and is reading The Never Ending Story, by Michael Ende. This is an amazing feat for him.

My son is looking forward to using Time4Learning.com when he graduates from his private school in May. The unavailability of a written teacher’s manual is not as big an issue in my son’s case, because he will need me to sit at his side and help him through many of the lessons anyway. Further, he does not have the point-and-click coordination issues that his sister has. As he matures into a more independent learner we may end up moving to a textbook curriculum, but at least through his elementary years, I suspect Time4Learning will continue to be the best fit. It provides an easy to transition into homeschooling, a simple method to stay organized, online homeschool community support, and an extremely good financial value.

Time4Learning compensates members who write reviews about their service, but these opinions are entirely my own.

It’s been a difficult journey trying to decide on a core curriculum for my homeschool. I ended up making up my own last year and had enough success with it that I have done it again this year. I spend a lot of time comparing notes with other homeschool families, mostly about curriculum choices.

Lately, I’ve noticed the Time4Learning name popping up a lot. I checked it out and I was excited about the prospect of an online option. After all, we are in a small house and limited space for storing big text books, and I loved the fact that I could take my laptop with me and conduct class at the library, or anywhere else there was a wi-fi connection. My current concern is with my son meeting the testing standards for NC. Not that he’s not able to understand the material, it’s more about whether or not I’ve even covered the material he’ll be tested on.

I can see after using the Time4Learning program that it has aligned itself very well with the national standards. I also love the fact that he has access to his grade level and 1-2 additional grade levels. This is great for him since he advances quickly through certain subjects. Time4Learning keeps track of all your child’s log-ins, grades, lessons covered, and more. My 5 year old is very capable of clicking through his lesson all on his own, which allows me to prepare tomorrows lesson, or setup our art project, change the baby’s diaper, or even FINISH MY CUP OF COFFEE!

The only problems I’ve had so far is the inability to see exactly which question he got wrong on an activity. I can see a final grade, but then if it’s less than 100% I must go back over each question with my son asking him how he answered this one before. I agree we should go back over it together, but to know which question gave him trouble would allow me to pinpoint trends, and fix them in a timely manner. I personally will use this program 3-4 times per week on average. Overall for the price and compactness of the whole package, I’m thrilled.

As a member of Time4Learning, I have been given the opportunity to review their program and share my experiences. While I was compensated, this review was not written or edited by Time4Learning and my opinion is entirely my own. For more information, check out their standards-based curriculum or learn how to write your own curriculum review.

Time 4 Learning is our choice in homeschool curriculum. We have been using Time 4 Learning since we started homeschooling 3 years ago. They offer lessons from Preschool up to 8th grade including Algebra.

I started out with my oldest on it in 1st grade. He really enjoyed the video animations. The program also allows you to pick a grade above or a grade below your child’s set grade which is really useful for the ones that excel in one area and need more time in others. It also has a lesson plan if you choose to use it or you can make your own according to the lessons listed.

The Upper Level (4th-8th) also has a Art Curriculum which is great, my son really enjoys this. I love that you can set things up to fit your child. My youngest loves the Playground, which is a large list of educational games that they are allowed to play after their lesson time. You are able to set the time limits on both the lesson time and playground. The thing I like is they think they are playing but they are really still learning. I also love the fact I can print out a Progress Report every day, every week or every month (or whenever I want to). It list the each activity as a lesson, quiz or test.

Like most parents looking for a curriculum I believe there are key factors to look for.. the curriculum needs to have flexibility, needs a plan, fit my child’s learning style, be fun and be affordable. Time 4 Learning fits all these factors.

If you are looking for a homeschool curriculum, after school help, or summer program Time 4 Learning has everything you need to help your child accomplish their goals. You can go to Time4learning and do Demo Lessons and look at the Curriculum Overview. When you sign up you also get a 14-day Money Back Guarantee.

As a member of Time4Learning, I have been given the opportunity to review their program and share my experiences. While I was compensated, this review was not written or edited by Time4Learning and my opinion is entirely my own.

I’ve been searching for homeschool programs that my kids can work on while we’re on our two-month trip in Hawaii. We’ll have some school work but I wanted to supplement with something online too to keep the work engaging.

For the last month, both my 4 and 7 year old have been using Time4Learning. I admit my preschooler has been using it a lot more. He’s been working on lessons on the human body, vehicles, and feelings. Each lesson is short and contains 4-5 tasks such as watching a movie or listening to a story, memory game, match game, etc. There were lots of lessons to choose from, and lessons were split into PK1 and PK2 levels.

I felt like the only thing lacking was more phonics for my preschooler. We’ve tried Reading Eggs, and it was solely focused on phonics, which is why I wanted to try Time4Learning. I wanted a more comprehensive program. I just upgraded my preschooler’s level to kindergarten to give him more phonics and language arts, and was pleased with the options. Since he’s a preschooler going into kindergarten next year, I feel like he needs a blend of the PK work and kindergarten work but I have to choose one or the other.

One other thing is I felt like there may be too many choices from the home screen. Basically, my kids could choose any lesson to start from. The home screen could have 10-15 different lessons to choose from. In the beginning, my kids would choose a lesson but not complete and then choose another lesson. I’d prefer that either they had to do lessons in sequence from the beginning or choose a lesson from the home screen and have to finish it before choosing another. I find that I have to sit down with my kids and watch as they go through a lesson to make sure it’s completely done. It’s do-able but an adjustment from Reading Eggs, which was sequential.

For my 1st grader, he loved having different subjects to choose from. Time4Learning offers math, social studies, and science in addition to language arts and phonics. He really loved the science section. I can already see that we’ll be advancing through those lessons faster than the others. I believe there’s 16 lessons for science, but over 100 for math and 200 for language arts. I wish the program offered the ability to access lessons from other grades but without advancing everything – e.g. science from 2nd grade but math in 1st grade. I think at this point we can only advance all lessons an entire grade. I kind of like the idea of letting my son advance in one area if that’s what strikes his interest at the time.

Our trial is over but we bought a monthly subscription on our own to test it out longer. So far I think it’ll offer almost everything we’ll need to supplement our studies while away. I find that I have the kids using it when they get a little crazy too. It’s a learning activity that’s fun, so they don’t know they’re doing school work necessarily.

My son Joshua has Aspergers syndrome, which causes him difficulties in social settings and in some of his academic studies. He does extremely well in science, which is what he is interested in. He was struggling so much in school that I withdrew him and at first tried home schooling him using a standard selection of text books for him to use. He was very resistant to this method, and it became a great struggle for both of us to attempt to get him to learn this way as with his acute visual and audio learning styles the books did not capture his attention.

Then about one year ago, after much searching online I found an online educational program called time4learning. We tried it, and it was an instant fit! We were both so excited! This program is very visually interactive, and makes learning fun for my son in away that books never did due to his learning challenges. In addition when I spend time with him as he does his school work we are able to interact as we discuss his lessons each day in a productive manner.

Another very appealing feature for us about Time for Leanings program is that you can vary the grade level for each subject as needed for your child. This is very helpful for my son with his learning challenges, as he is at different grade levels from one subject to another. He excels in science, and does well social studies due to the geography, which he likes. He struggles in math especially along with Language arts. I am able to put him right where he needs to be in each subject. We really like that!

It is very inspiring to me to see my son actively involved in his education, and actually enjoying it as well. None of us like to see our children struggle, we all long for them to do well and succeed. For my son, Time for Learning is helping with this. He still struggles with math and language, but he is making progress. and that for me is what makes the difference. To see him progress!

Each of us in our daily lives have many things that we struggle with. When we find ways to help both ourselves and our families do better it is not only a relief, it is inspiring to find other people who are dedicated to helping with some of the challenges we do face as parents, like the staff at Time for Learning have been for me and my son. whenever I have called with questions or problem, they have been very helpful to me! For this I am grateful!

Thank you Time for Learning for helping my son, with his education! The very visually interactive media used in this program is far more appealing to him then anything else we have tried. In conclusion, I feel the time I am spending with my son as we go through his schooling together is not only time well spent, it is a gift to both of us as well. For me it is wonderful to see my son making progress!

Time4Learning is a wonderful online program that can be used to enhance your homeschool experience. Some homeschool parents choose to use it as a core curriculum for their children. Others choose to use it to supplement their curriculum.

I have done a lot of research, and have used quite a few different curriculum choices.

This is our first year homeschooling, so it has not been uncommon for me to change our studies to meet my children’s needs. I think we have finally fine tuned everything!

At times it can be quite challenging to meet the needs of both girls, because they are in different grade levels. Not to mention, I would be horrified if I missed something that they needed to know!

I find that Time4Learning is fun, and very thorough with it’s Language Arts, and Math lessons.

We have used teaching text books, and they are great too. But I have also come to realize that my children learn a little bit differently than the way these books teach.

When I was in school I was very good at math, and learned short cuts to find answers quicker. The teaching text book way is definitely not short! It even frustrates my daughter to the point of tears sometimes.

So I have found that the Time4Learning Math lessons are more useful for my children. If needed, we just print out extra worksheets to extend a lesson.

I can not say enough about their Language Arts program. It covers everything! It is so much better than traditional grammar books all the time!

I would recommend Time4Learning for anyone who is looking for online curriculum. You really can customize it for your child. You have the option to work at grade level, or one grade above or below. This software actually keeps track of the graded assignments for you! It is a wonderful asset to anyone who is homeschooling.

As a member of Time4Learning, I have been asked to review their online education program and share my experiences. While I was compensated, this review was not written or edited by Time4Learning and my opinion is entirely my own. Write your own curriculum review or learn how to use their curriculum for homeschool, after school study or summer learning.

When I began looking at Time4Learning, I admit that my response was skeptical at best. Because this curriculum uses video game-like teaching, I was uncertain if my children would learn anything. I knew they would love it (who wouldn’t love playing video games for school?), but I, of course, wanted to be sure they would actually learn!

For the first several lessons my skepticism remained, but over time I began to be amazed at how much my children were learning. This curriculum is much stronger than it appears to be at first glance.

Some of the real strengths I found are:

Strong review–each unit is taught, quizzed, reviewed, then quizzed again. My oldest (7th grade) especially appreciated this in the Math.

The writing requirements are fun–My youngest (2nd grade) used to hate writing. Because he is able to create the background for his writing assignments (by choosing the people, room, props, etc. on the screen), and because he types his assignment rather than writing it, he really enjoys the writing assignments. He even asks to do school every day!! (small miracle)

The grammar is strong and understandable–My middle child (4th grade) struggles with grammar and has often become frustrated with any grammar-related assignments. With Time4Learning, she actually enjoys it. WOW. And, even more important, she gets it.

The reading comprehension exercises are timed–While this may not seem important, as a homeschool mom I love it! My youngest is still at the point where he does not enjoy reading (it is still work for him), but he is very competitive. Because the reading assignments (some of them) are timed, he has to beat the clock. After each assignment he is shown his wpm (words per minute) and is asked to read the assignment again, this time more fluently. I love that the emphasis is on reading fluently. My son does his reading assignments with little or no complaints now, mainly because he is always trying to better his “score”.

Grading is immediate and automatic–My children and I both love the immediate and automatic grading!! This takes a lot of the burden off of mom, which allows me to work better in other areas.

Just a note: I noticed with the quizzes/tests, etc. that there is no pause capability. In other words, if my child needs to stop half-way through a quiz and exits, the grade is automatically entered and the unanswered questions are marked wrong. This grade is then recorded and averaged in, and I could not find a way to correct this.

What my children say about Time4Learning:

Oldest: It is easier to remember, great review in Math, “It’s a lot more fun!”

Middle: “I like how in the Math, when I mess up, they let me go through it again until I learn it. I like the Language Arts how they have the videos and explain things to me through the videos, because they are fun and they explain stuff. It’s not just boring old school.”

Youngest: “I like Math, because there’s a guy that explains it all and after Math there’s a quiz. I like Science, because they have stuff like telescopes. I like Language Arts Extensions, because it is fun. I get to read about spiders. I like Social Studies because I learn about America and other countries. I LOVE the Playground!”

What Mom says: I love that my children love school! I do believe that they are learning and retaining what they learn. YAY! I also love that they are finished quickly.

There were, however, a few things that I do not love. I really dislike that this is a secular curriculum and not bible-based. While this is not a huge problem in the Math, I found several references to evolution in the Language Arts reading assignments, and especially in the Science. Because we are supplementing with other subjects and not using the Science for my older children (I sit with my youngest while he does his school, usually), I feel this is not a large enough issue to keep me from using Time4Learning. Also, I am told that the Parent Forum speaks specifically to this issue and warns of lessons that have evolutionist content. (I realize that this is not a problem for everyone, but since this review is about how Time4Learning worked for us I felt I should mention it.)

While I am still uncertain about the how of their learning (cartoon-led lessons are still very unconventional in my thinking!), I am now more certain of the what they are learning. I do feel that this is a solid program, and that the benefit of the automatic grading and no prep for me outweighs the few issues I have with Time4Learning’s curriculum.

Will I used Time4Learning again? YES. We are going to finish out this school year using Time4Learning in varying degrees.

I’ve had a few questions from folks, so I figure I’d address how we are homeschooling this year, especially with a baby in the house!

I do know some supermoms in the homeschooling world…and I’m not one of them. I was admittedly nervous; this is honestly our first year of regular, day-to-day homeschooling since Ryan is in the first grade. My boys love the computer, so I started researching online home school curriculum, but most programs ran into the thousands for tuition. Until I stumbled across this gem! It’s Time4Learning.com. It’s my little slice of homeschooling heaven!

Ryan is in 1st grade, and the great thing with this program is that he has access to Kindergarten and 2nd grade lessons. He’s able to study language arts, math, science and social studies. It’s incredibly interactive; right up his alley! As the parent, I can log in and track what work has been completed, what grade he received, and what is next in line for him to tackle; they keep a very detailed portfolio for your child. They also have detailed lesson plans.

I signed Jack up as well; he’s working on the Kindergarten level.

The beauty of it for me, at this time in my life, is that I don’t have to stay glued to their sides while they learn. I love to watch and to help them; the lessons are fantastic. With a newborn biding for my time, though, it’s not a reality that I’m able to stick with them through everything. The lessons are very geared to their particular ages so they usually get on and take right off without my assistance. {not supermom, remember?} It helps us all stay sane. I don’t have a ton of material to purchase, I don’t have to teach from the book, and they get to learn in the avenue that excites them and suits them the best. It keeps their attention well; I don’t have to try to get them to focus and get back on track, because they truly love it. I’m thrilled! (Aside from this program, we’ll definitely do handwriting, read together, meet with our homeschooling group, etc).

The best part for us? The price! It’s 20 dollars for the first child, and 15 for additional children. While $35 isn’t much, it was still a bit of a sacrifice for us, so we had to rearrange our budget to fit it in. Is it worth it for this busy momma? Absolutely.

My official take on the program? If you haven’t guessed; it’s extraordinary core curriculum. And it’s keeping me from becoming overwhelmed in the homeschooling realm at this point in my life. We couldn’t be happier!

I have been homeschooling my children for years. We live in a small community and the public school does not offer up to date learning materials. My daughter’s found themselves extremely bored academically. They were not excited to go to school because they were tired of being bored. I just felt they were not learning what they should at this point in their schooling.

I was introduced toTime4Learning by my sister who had been using the program to educate her two boys. One of her boys was having quite a hard time learning to read. They were also being bullied in public school. The public school they had to attend was full of rough kids who liked to pick on the nice kids. Her boys dreaded going to school. She started homeschooling with Time4Learning and within a couple months, the boys were excited to learn, they were both reading better and were all around happier children.

I decided to give it a try for my 1st grader. She can actually do most of the assignments on her own which I really love because I can work on my computer right beside her and if she needs me, I am right there. She has shown great progress in her reading skills. Every day she talks about something new she learned in school. She loves it. Her favorite subject is the science. All of the assignments are beautifully put together and easy to understand. The little characters they use to explain assignments and problems are very cute and the assignments seem to be really enjoyable to her.

I love the positive reinforcement children get after they have finished an assignment correctly. Also, when they make a mistake they really reinforce a job well done when they get the problem correct. My child is happy to learn again and she is definitely not bored. Time4Learning is also one of the most reasonably priced homeschooling program on the internet. I spent quite a lot of time looking for schools online, and this program is definitely reasonably priced. You get so much for such a small price. I am very happy with the program.
