Time4Learning's Elementary Science Curriculum

Time4Learning presents a logical and sequential approach to teaching science.

In the first grade science curriculum, students distinguish between living and non-living things, are introduced to earth science, and learn about some of the people who have contributed to the field of science. Kindergarten students can elect to have the first grade science curriculum included as part of their program at no extra cost. Learn more about first grade science lesson plans.

In the second grade science lessons, life science is explored through patterns in nature. Physcial science is introduced with lessons on force and motion and earth science is continued from first grade. Learn more about second grade science lesson plans.

Skills related to scientific investigation are developed in third grade, along with more work on energy, force and motion. The nature of matter and ecology are also introduced this year. Read about the third grade science curriculum here.

Upper Elementary - Fourth & Fifth Grade Science Lessons

In fourth grade, scientific investigation skills are further developed, along with changes in matter and energy. Science lessons introduce sound and the solar system, while work on living things continues. Complete details are in the fourth grade science lesson plans.

Electricity, light and organisms are introduced in the fifth grade science curriculum, while studies continue in scientific investigation, classification of living things and lifecycles and reproduction. Middle School Science Curriculum - The Scientific Process, Life Science, Types of Energy, Electricity, and Magnetism

Sixth grade students are immersed in the scientific process. Sixth graders learn about the properties of matter, characteristics of plants, energy, force and motion, and electricity and magnetism. See the sixth grade science curriculum for more information. Since Time4Learning has no specific seventh grade curriculum at this time, seventh graders are assigned the sixth grade curriculum. Many eighth grader are also using the sixth grade materials although this is only assigned upon parent request.

Science Levels One and Two
Solid Crust	Students will learn that the solid materials making up the Earth come in all sizes, from boulders to grains of sand.
Basic Needs of Animals	Students will learn to identify the basic needs of animals, including shelter and living space through animations, definitions and games.

Science Levels Four and Five
All About Rocks and Soil	Students will identify the physical characteristics and discuss the formation of igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks.
Reflections	Students will describe the use and basic design of kaleidoscopes, flashlights, and mirrors.
