Programs
What program is best suited for my child?

Should you use a private tutor, a learning center with it’s own methodology, or an online learning service?

As parents, we want to provide our children with the best academic assistance possible, yet with the many choices available, this can be a cumbersome decision.
The answer is that there simply is no single answer. Each child and family is unique, so choosing a program truly depends on your child’s needs and your own budget. By the way, the more expensive choices do not necessarily mean the better ones. Finding the best fit can be a challenging course for even the most experienced parent since what works for one child may not necessarily have the same effect on the next.

Kumon Math
and Learning Centers

Considering Kumon? Kumon is a franchise company known worldwide. It provides a service for children and parents alike, based on the philosophy of repetition and self-motivated learning. This after-school program works primarily toward enrichment and a mastery of the basics through a standardized approach of workbook completion. The Kumon workbooks consist of several pages of sequential math or reading content. Students complete one workbook while at the Kumon Center. In addition, students are required to complete a workbook at home each day they are not in attendance (including weekends). Workbooks range from two pages a day to twenty pages a day, requiring a degree of parental supervision.

Wondering about cost efficiency?
Students attend Kumon two days a week, staying approximately thirty minutes for one subject and an hour for both subjects. During this time students focus independently on fundamental skills, with little demonstration of lessons, as tutoring services are not the basis of the Kumon approach.

Kumon offers math and reading at a monthly cost ranging from $80 to $100 for a single subject, with a beginning registration fee of $50, and material fees of $15. Again, the fees associated are set at the determination of each franchise owner, as are the hours of operation, and will vary.

How does Kumon track student progress? Are parents kept informed? Kumon diagnostically tests prospective students, figuring out the level at which to begin each child, dependent upon their age, grade, and test score. An initial progress goal graph tracks the estimated progress of each child. Upon the completion and passing of level assessments, parents are provided with a new progress goal graph, tracking the current progress and estimating future gains.

  • Note: Parents are informed that Kumon is a long-term program, expectant of few results within the first six months

Parental Support

Staying involved in your child’s educational journey is most important, yet sometimes difficult when relinquishing certain control to an after-school program. The Time4Learning program offers extensive support and tracking systems for parents.

Parents are consistently provided with a scope and sequence, lessons plans, and the ability to track their own child’s progress, making scores, assignments and assessments readily available at all times. With the ability to print these plans and assignments, parents can easily create a home-school portfolio, saving time and helping in the overall organization.
Parental support is also given through our online forum where discussions and questions may be posted.
.
Time4Learning is very effective in its goal to captivate and educate students simultaneously. It is increasingly less costly and more comprehensive than other programs. Parents who are looking for a daily, interesting way for their child to learn via the modern technology of a computer would be best accommodated using Time4Learning. Sign up for Time4Learning and begin using the many resources. We look forward to helping foster the growth and journey of your child.
