Learning to read is an exciting time for children and their families. While thrilled by their children's emerging literacy and reading skills, many parents are surprised to learn that reading is not automatic and that regardless of family background, children require support in learning to read and developing strong language arts skills. Most adults forget that acquiring reading skills required skilled instruction. Time4Learning starts with phonemic awareness, advances to phonics and then on to solid reading comprehension skills.
Enrichment for Special Needs
Many children benefit from supplementary tutoring to help them keep up, to engage more fully in their studies, or to provide them with an extra challenge. Why drive to a tutoring center or make your children struggle with workbooks when Time4Learning provides effective, fun learning at home?
Time4Learning provides an interactive online science curriculum for first to twelfth grade. At the elementary level, science is organized by grade level and included as a free bonus because it isn't animated and doesn't correlate to all state standards. However, the middle and high school science curriculum does correlate to state standards.
Middle school science is organized into three primary courses that correlate to state standards: Earth/Space Science, Life Science, and Physical Science. The courses cover materials typically offered at the sixth to eighth grade level, although parents can choose a middle school science course if they have students in fourth grade and above. In addition, Nature of Science is also provided as a supplement with each of the middle school courses. View the middle school science overview page for course descriptions.
High school science is organized into five standards-based courses: Biology, Earth/Space Science, Physical Science, Chemistry, and Physics. Each course addresses literacy in the form of vocabulary, comprehension, fluency, and writing activities. View the high school science overview for detailed course descriptions.
Social Studies Curriculum
Time4Learning offers a social studies curriculum for second to twelfth grade. Elementary social studies is available from second to fifth grade and is organized by grade level. Although the materials are extensive, social studies is included as an added bonus because it does not correlate to all state standards and many lessons are not animated.
Middle school social studies is only available in sixth and seventh grade and is included as an added bonus because it does not correlate to all state standards. Students in eighth grade have the option to register for 7th grade social studies for free, or they can add high school to their membership at an additional monthly cost. View the social studies curriculum overview for more information.
High school science is organized into five standards-based courses that cover US History I, World History, US Government / Civics, US History II, and Geography. Materials are taught using a combination of authentic tasks, primary sources, and artifact lessons that teach high school students to learn as the scholars do, using modern and historical resources. View the high school social studies overview for detailed course descriptions.
Homeschool, Afterschool, or Summer Use
The Time4Learning curriculum can be the foundation of a homeschool program. Many homeschool families use Time4Learning as core curriculum in one or more subjects. Others families use Time4Learning to supplement other homeschool curriculum with a fun, interactive reinforcement of the day's lessons. Families with children in public or private schools use Time4Learning as an afterschool alternative to tutoring, learning centers, or supplementary workbooks. Time4Learning is also popular as a summer skills sharpener or in place of attending summer school.
